Trewithen Dairy FAQs

The proper Cornish way to enjoy a cream tea is to break the scone with your hands, before spreading each side with a layer of jam followed by a generous dollop of Cornish clotted cream. The jam prevents the warm scone from melting the cream!

All our products are made from pasteurised milk, and suitable for pregnant women, but you should always consult a health professional if you are ever unsure.
Is it possible to have leftover clotted cream?! We love it stirred through scrambled eggs, spooned into mashed potato and added to ragus to add depth and richness. Have a look at our recipe pages for ideas – it’s so versatile for both savoury and sweet dishes.
We are not organic. We work to a set of high standards called our trewFarming commitment, which helps us to look after the pastures, herds and wildlife. This code of our shared practices and beliefs among our farmers includes benchmarks for grazing, herd health monitoring, antibiotic use and carbon reduction. This gives us, and you, assurance that we’re enhancing our environment and feeding the land under hoof with all the best stuff, which we believe creates better milk.

We are also pioneers in regenerative farming and will be sharing more details of our Earth Milk Project very soon.

As part of our trewFarming commitment, all of our cows must be provided with a minimum of 120 days per year of grazing in the pastures and many of our farmers achieve in excess of this. This is independently audited as an extension to the existing annual Red Tractor audit. When the weather is inclement and cows are housed inside, locally grown forages make up a high proportion of their diet. Read more about our trewFarming Standards here.
