Professional big-wave surfer Tom Butler recently joined Trewithen Dairy for our Street Surf Contest series, bringing fun and free milk to the streets of Plymouth. Trewithen-sponsored Tom jumped at the chance to help participants put their balance and strength to the test on a surf simulator, drawing quite a crowd at Plymouth’s Place De Brest. The event, in collaboration with Starbucks, celebrated Trewithen Dairy’s Cornish milk now being supplied to local Starbucks outlets and those attending bagged themselves a free bottle of the delicious white stuff, as well as a chance to win prizes for their surfing skills. The person staying on the board the longest was awarded a £150 Starbucks voucher – that’s a lot of coffee!

After the success of the Plymouth contest, we took our surf simulator and Tom on the road and headed east to the University of Exeter main campus. In conjunction with the Market Place Forum Shop, once again there were some great prizes up for grabs for those with the greatest surfing stamina! The surfer of longest ride won £150 to spend in the Market Place Forum Shop, with extra prizes offered for guessing how many balloons were in the Trewithen Dairy Mini.

Cornishman Tom, finalist of 2015’s XXL Biggest Wave Award (73ft), was delighted to join in the surfing fun: “It was great to be asked to come along to the Street Surf Contest and some of the rides have been pretty impressive! I’m proud to name Trewithen Dairy as one of my sponsors and, as a surfer, it is so important that I eat well, so I’ve loved helping to spread the word about their local milk, as well as promoting my favourite sport, of course!”
