A savoury twist on a classic Easter favourite! These golden, buttery hot cross buns are packed with rich Cornish Blue cheese and fresh foraged wild garlic.
Wild garlic & Cornish blue hot cross buns
Serves: 10 Prep Time: 1.5 hrs Prep Time: 30 mins Prep Time: 2 hrsCombine the flour, yeast, salt, sugar in a large bowl and gradually mix in the milk., melted butter and beaten egg. Mix with a dough hook or knead until you have a sticky dough. Then add in the wild garlic and blue cheese.
Form into a ball and leave to prove in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Divide the dough into fairly equal sized balls and shape into rolls. Place on a lined baking tray and leave to prove for 30-45 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 200C and then make the flour and waster paste and pipe on top of the buns to form crosses.
Bake for 30 minutes until golden. Allow to cool on a wire rack but brush with buttery maple glaze while they are still warm. Serve fresh with butter or toasted with extra blue cheese.
