Trewithen Dairy was proud to sponsor the Autumn Beach Clean that took place across Cornwall in October 2019.

Between the 19th and 27th October 2019, thousands of volunteers headed to beaches all over the UK with one very clear goal in mind, to make a dent in the amount of litter covering our coastlines.

Autumn is a particularly crucial time to help look after our beaches, after the busy summer with tourists and locals enjoying the coast, our shorelines are somewhat forgotten about as we move into winter.

Altogether, 604 beaches were visited across the UK, with an astonishing 27,305 volunteers taking part, not forgetting those from Trewithen Dairy who on Friday the 25th October, headed to Newquay’s Fistral beach to lend a helping hand.

The team got well and truly stuck in. The SAS Team removed an amazing 33,334.34kg of plastic pollution across the country – 10% over the target of 30,000kg, equating to 8,333.60 full sacks!

“We are proud that our business and team can support the excellent work the SAS does, and we hope this will encourage us all to do ‘our bit’ to achieve our common goal of a better environment for all.” – Francis Clarke, Trewithen Dairy, Managing Director.

2019 was a very successful year for Surfers Against Sewage. A total of 2,210 environmental cleans were organised, nearly 6 for every day of the year! This is all thanks to the amazing 90,564 volunteers who together have helped remove over 128 tonnes of litter from UK beaches, mountains, rivers and communities.
