NORDIC SPICED PORRIDGE

DESCRIPTION

This is a real winter warmer to kick start the day – packed full of energy and protein. The spices provide a really delicious flavour whilst the fresh fruit brightens up this breakfast with a splash of colour. Try making a large batch and storing it in a kilner jar and then in the morning simply add a handful of porridge mix and some milk to the saucepan.

INGREDIENTS

150 ml Trewithen Dairy Cornish Milk
500g Porridge Oats
50g Walnuts
50g Red or Black Quinoa
50g Raisins
1 tbsp ground Cinnamon
1 tsp ground Cardamom
1 tsp ground Ginger
1 pinch of Sea Salt
Apple
Blueberries
Maple Syrup

METHOD

For each portion of this Scandinavian style porridge use 75 g of the above spiced porridge mixture and stir in 150ml of  milk. Then after 3-4 minutes cooking when the oats start to thicken add in some shaved apple, blueberries and finish with maple syrup and a dollop of natural yogurt or try some of our Toffee and Apple flavoured yogurt.
