Overview of the role:

Location: Lostwithiel, Cornwall

Salary: Competitive

  • To be ultimately responsible for hygiene across the whole site, this is to include:
    • Processing equipment.
    • Product handling plant and areas.
    • CIP systems.
    • Fabric.
    • Facilities.
    • Transport (as appropriate).
    • Exterior (buildings, silo’s yard etc.).
  • To ensure all areas are visually clean and that food contact and product handling areas are microbiologically clean.
  • To assist in maintaining environmental standards across the site.
  • To directly manage the facilities hygiene team, and the factory hygiene operatives.
  • To write and develop procedures, work instructions and schedules to facilitate the above.
  • Support and/or conduct regular GMP and hygiene audits, provide feedback to managers, team leaders and give guidance on the completion of any necessary corrective actions.
  • To ensure supervisory grades within production have sufficient knowledge and understanding of cleaning and the target end standards. This is to enable then to deliver the required cleaning, at the correct standard in a timely manner and to make sure they understand how to inspect and positively release cleaning completed.
  • Provide appropriate training of key operations and technical staff to enable dissemination of training and information downwards (training of operators and production staff to be undertaken by production once the trainers have been trained) .
  • Conduct investigation and fault finding exercises (e.g. environmental failures)
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of food safety and QMS procedures regarding cleaning procedures and schedules.
  • Lead, coordinate or support improvement projects, equipment commissioning, and new product development trials as requested.
  • To monitor, trend and report hygiene standards as appropriate. To develop KPI’s and trackers if required.
  • Help to promote H&S culture on site and maintain documentation for chemicals and procedures associated with chemicals used (e.g. COSSH, risk assessments).
  • Help conduct validation exercises with technical team.
  • To ensure sufficient and appropriate hygiene equipment and supplies are available for use.

The nature of this role will require flexibility over a seven day week and will include nights, weekend and early starts/evening working as required.
